Scott County Community Foundation board member Shari Baumann, far right, presents a grant for $350 to Empower Scott County members Aubree Eldridge, Scarlett Herald, and Lillie Broadus. The grant was awarded from the Philip Glenn Martin Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation and will be used for The Amazing Shake. The competition, which teaches students about professional skills, will be held Jan. 27-28 for Austin and Scottsburg middle school students. Students learn proper handshakes, how to interact with adults, manners, communication and more to help them develop skills for success.

The Philip Glenn Martin Memorial Fund's purpose is to support programs and projects that increase financial literacy, business and entrepreneurial skills for students. Phil Martin was the first executive director of the Scott County Chamber of Commerce.
