Scott County Community Foundation Board Member Jamie Longacre, far right, presents a check for $1,500 to Norton Scott Hospital Medical Imaging Lead Technologist Hope White, and Vice President of Operations Tiffany Sierota. The grant was awarded from the Rosalind English Trust Fund at the Community Foundation and will be used for the Women’s Health Night to be held at the hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 6-8 p.m. There will be health screenings and education, 3D mammography scheduling, women’s services information, community resources and more. There will also be an opportunity to meet physicians and teams. There will be light refreshments, door prizes, and a grand prize.

Rosalind Orr English was the daughter of Capt. William E. and Helen English. At the age of four, she unveiled the statue of her grandfather, William H. English, on the courthouse square in 1907. She was admitted to the State Bar on her 21st birthday and was an avid fan of horseback riding and flying airplanes. Her life was cut short by an automobile accident in 1924. Through a bequest in Capt. English’s will, the Rosalind English Trust was created, and the Scott County Community Foundation was eventually named as successor trustee. Grants from the fund have assisted with hospital expenses for sick children as well as community health initiatives such as Women’s Health Night.
